Our Story

Built on honour. Led by example.

The backbone of the military.

Non-commissioned officers are the backbone of the military. They are not the ones who write the orders — they are the ones who make them happen. They train the soldiers, set the standard on the ground, and hold the line between intent and execution.

When things go wrong, they fix it. When things go right, they give the credit away. That is the model One Niner Charlie Build Co. is built on. Not rank, not authority — accountability. The kind that does not need to be asked for.

The name behind the work.

One Niner Charlie comes from a company sergeant major's radio call sign during our founder's service in Golf Company, 2nd Battalion, The Royal Canadian Regiment.

The company sergeant major is the senior non-commissioned officer of an infantry company — responsible for discipline, welfare, and standards. The position exists to ensure the work gets done right, and that the people doing it are looked after.

Never pass a fault.

In the military, you do not walk past something that is wrong. You stop, you correct it, and you take responsibility through to completion. That principle applies here.

If something is not right on a project — whether it is our work or a condition we encounter — we address it. We do not leave deficiencies for someone else to find. We do not sign off on work we would not stand behind. We follow through.

Practical leadership.

Leadership in construction is not complicated. It means showing up prepared, communicating clearly, doing the work to the standard, and being honest when something needs to change. It means treating clients' homes and properties with the same care we would want applied to our own. It means the people we work with — tradespeople, suppliers, subcontractors — are treated with respect and paid fairly.

Service beyond the job site.

We honour our military roots through the way we work and our commitment to serving our communities.

Pro Patria.

For Country — the motto of The Royal Canadian Regiment.
